John Chester Barrett, loving referred to as "J.C." was born on November 2, 1949, in Manchester, Kentucky, to the late McKinley and Letha Wagers Barrett. He departed this life on Friday, September 26, 2025, in Berea, Kentucky at the age of 75.
By occupation, J.C. was a retired coal truck driver, dedicating many years to his career. John was raised on Jack's Creek, and later in life moved to London where he was living at the time of his passing.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed the simple joys of life, often seen wearing his beloved cowboy hat and boots, a look that he loved. He had a particular fondness for watching westerns; A dedicated sports fan, John was an avid NASCAR fan and passionately supported the University of Kentucky basketball team.
John is survived by his son, Greg Barrett (Amanda) of Manchester, KY, and two daughters, Vickie Loving (Glenn) of Berea, KY, and Miranda Barrett of London, KY. He is also survived by two brothers, Leslie Barrett of Roark, KY, and Lee Barrett of London, KY, as well as two sisters, Bertha Harris (Bill) and Velda Collett (Doug), both of London, KY. His legacy continues through his nine cherished grandchildren: Natasha Reeves, Jonathan Maggard, Chris Collett, Andria Barrett, Joshua Barger, Andrew Barrett, Jacob Barrett, Emily Barrett, Tyler Collett, and Alexis Sizemore, who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley and Letha Wagers Barrett, and two brothers, Dallas and Elmer Barrett.
The funeral services for Mr. John Chester "J.C." Barrett will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Bowen's Creek Cemetery at Essie, KY with Jonathan Maggard, Josh Barger, Matthew Osborne, Chris Barrett, and Ira Barrett serving as pallbearers.
Friends and family may gather for visitation from 6p.m. - 9p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home chapel.
