John Stewart Barron, of Cedar Park, Texas, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on July 11, at the age of 79. Stew was born in Falkirk Scotland on Aprill 22 1945. Stew emigrated with his family from Scotland in 1953 settling in Lake Station Indiana. Stew attended Central School and Portage High School in Portage Indiana graduating early in 1963.
Dad joined the Marine Corps in 1962 under the delayed entry program and graduated Boot Camp in June 1963, training in Helicopter avionics 1966 to 1967. Dad was Sent to the Republic of Vietnam earning the Combat Action Ribbon. Dad later attended Communication and Electronics School in 29 Palms California, eventually becoming an instructor.
Dad met Mom in El Toro, California and married in August of 1973. From there, they moved to 29 Palms, California then later moved to Simi Valley, California when Dad retired as a Master Sergeant in 1982. Their life's adventures continued to Thousand Oaks, California where Dad worked as a Software designer for Litton Corporation. then to Rockwall, Texas, eventually moving to Cedar Park, Texas.
Dad enjoyed collecting watches, fishing and shuffleboard with Mom and friends and poker with his friends at The Pointe. Like Mom, he enjoyed football and baseball. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Cubs were his go to teams, watching them any chance he could. Dad was also an avid collector of Marine Corps memorabilia, especially ball caps, challenge coins and anything Marine Corps related.
Dad is survived by his three sons, John Stewart Barron II, Eric Dorrance, Thomas Anthony Barron, and daughter Dawn Buscho, along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Dad is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Beck Funeral Home, 1700 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, 78613. Visitors may arrive at 9 am to celebrate his life before the ceremony begins at 10 am. There will be picture albums to view and a photo slide show of our Devil Dog.
