John J. Bauer Sr.

John J. Bauer Sr., 91, of Bethlehem, died peacefully and surrounded by his family, on Tuesday December 21, 2010. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Valentine and Mary (Boldizar) Bauer. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary (Szvetecz) Bauer. John was employed by the Bethlehem Steel for 41 years where he worked as a bricklayer supervisor in the Saucon Plant and retired in 1980. He was a long time member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bethlehem, where he served as usher for 50 years and was a past president of the Holy Name Society. He was a current member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary, son, John J. Bauer Jr., daughter, Mary Ann wife of Deacon Reuben “Harry” Hartzell, and sisters, Mary Moyer, and Rose Doddy. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sister Norbert Bauer, FDC, Elizabeth and Anna Bauer, and a brother, George. A 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 27th at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 730 W. Broad St. Bethlehem 18018. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.
