John Francis Baxter, age 66; passed away suddenly July 25, 2025. John was born February 1, 1959, in Worcester, MA to his loving parents the late William J. Baxter, Jr. and Gertrude E. Baxter, nee Horan. He is survived by his loving wife Dawn, with whom he spent the last 27 years. Friends say John never smiled more than he did when they married in 2021. John is also survived by his brothers James W. (Pamela) Baxter and Thomas B. Baxter; dear uncle of Alicia, Alexis, and Brooke Baxter; fond cousin, friend and colleague of many.

John was a proud alum of Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester, MA, where he was a star football and basketball player. He graduated Magna Cum Lade from Duke University and received his Master of Management degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Prior to Kellogg, John worked for General Electric Company graduating from General Electric's Financial Management Program in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and went on to a successful 40 year long career as an Industrial Project Partner at Hamilton Partners.

John was most proud of his affiliation with Chicago Highlands Golf Club as a trusted partner and co-founder of the club. He committed his time, talents, ideas, and resources to creating the premier family-oriented Club in Chicagoland. CH was his "home away from home." He loved being at the Club, laughing with members, working with staff, and playing golf.

John was an endlessly curious and enthusiastic person. He saw every day as an opportunity to learn new things and he relished sharing that information with others. He and Dawn traveled the world together collecting experiences and memories. Sitting together on the patio at their Mexico home, holding hands, and watching whales go by was a treasured pastime.

Visitation Thursday, July 31st, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 South Grant Street Hinsdale, IL. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Western Golf Association Evans Scholars Foundation, are appreciated. 630-323-0275 or www.sullivanfunerahomehinsdale.com

I am deeply saddened by the news of John´s passing.
To Dawn and the rest of the family, please accept my deepest condolences. John and I go back many years-from the neighborhood to our early school years. I knew early in life that he would achieve his goals. He was the first high school student I knew who talked about which stocks we should invest in.
Then came Amway-my mom affectionately called him "Mr. Amway." He tried to recruit everyone. And of course, we always heard him talking about Duke. I recall his nickname was Harman (Harmon), though I´m not sure why now that I look back.
I´ll fondly remember all the times we shared: CYC, hanging out at the Holy Cross Campus Center, sneaking into games during halftime at the Hart Center, road trips to Madison Square Garden, and trips to the Cape.
John, I wish we had stayed in better touch. Please know that you will be deeply missed.
Rest in peace, my friend. God bless.
Your memory will live on in all of us who were lucky to know you.
