John Benis Obituary
1933 ~ 2025
John Benis passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 24, 2025. He was born on June 16, 1933 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Mary Georgikakis Benis and Theoharris Benis. He grew up in Copperfield and West Jordan, Utah. Graduated from Jordan High School.
John married Eva Pazell on November 27, 1953. John was an electrician and worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation for 33 years. He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) union. John was a golden glove boxer and an avid rockhound.
John is survived by his four children Christie (Marty) Beebe, Kathy (Dennis) Williams, Harry (Hibet) Benis, and Terry (Christina) Benis; 5 grandchildren Stephen Beebe, Daniel Beebe, Ellen Beebe Sztuk, Lisa Williams Hopkins, Kyle Williams; 8 great grandchildren; and brother George Benis. Preceded in death by his wife Eva Pazell Benis; his parents; and sisters Irene, Effie, and Argie.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30th at 11:00 AM at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. Friends are invited to greet the family during a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment to follow services at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.

We are so sorry to hear that Uncle Johnny has passed. We have so many great memories of him. When I was in 3rd or 4th grade, I needed some type of collection to take to school as an assignment. Uncle Johnny made up a super rock collection in a box with 24 rock specimens and the name for each rock. I treasured that collection and still have it to this day. We have great memories of the BLT Sandwich parties for the family at your house where he would cook all the bacon for the sandwiches on the grill. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that he lived a good life and was a wonderful person.
