LANCASTER, S.C. - Mr. John Audis Bethea, 72, of Lancaster, S.C., passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on Aug. 5, 1952, John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who lived a life full of passion, faith, and love.
As an avid outdoorsman, John found peace and fulfillment in nature, whether fishing, hunting, camping, or simply taking in the beauty of the world around him. His love for plants and the land led him to a lifelong career as a landscape contractor, where he brought beauty to countless homes, gardens, and outdoor spaces. From the Live Oaks at Bank of America Stadium, to over 1,000 trees in Hartsville, to an orchard in Honduras, John loved planting trees and educating others about plants. His passion for horticulture extended beyond his work – he found joy in cultivating his own garden, nurturing plants, and appreciating the profound beauty of nature.
A die-hard Clemson fan and Class of 1974 alumnus, John's love for the Tigers was unmatched. He could always be found dressed in orange, sharing his love for his team with family and friends.
Above all, John was a man of deep faith. His trust in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, guiding him in all that he did. His unwavering belief in the Lord brought immense peace to his life and his legacy will forever be rooted in the faith he upheld.
John's family and friends will remember him as a loving man whose impact on this world will never fade. His legacy of faith, love, and passion for his craft will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed by his presence.
