John William Blanchard, age 77, passed away December 11, 2024 in Rison, AR at the Green House Cottages of Southern Hills. John was born December 15, 1946 in Prescott, AR to the late Doc and Roberta Blanchard. He was raised in Rison, graduating from Rison High School in 1966 as a Rison Wildcat football alumni; a lifelong Wildcat. He retired from Georgia Pacific after forty years.
John is survived by his wife, Billie Blanchard of Rison; and daughter Michelle Phillips (Brian) of Rison. John is a grandfather to two grandchildren; Taylor Crouse (Seth) and Rowdy Phillips, and two great granddaughters Livie and Quinn Crouse. John is also survived by one sister, Connie Simpson of Mountain Home, one brother-in-law Johnny Bob Lunsford (Tina) and one sister-in-law Darlene Carr.
John is preceded in death by his father Doc Blanchard and his mother Roberta Blanchard.
John was a member of Rison Baptist Church. He enjoyed drinking coffee at the coffee shop with his friends. He was a great contributor to the local veteran’s association and serving as President. John was a dedicated husband and father and loved his family and will be missed greatly by those that loved him.
A visitation will be Monday December 16, 2024 at Rison Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial service starting at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be brother Cody Robinson and Brother Kaden Shrum. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Rison Veterans Association or Rison Baptist Church Youth Group.
