John R. Blocher, 60, Indianapolis, passed away on January 23, 2025. John was born on August 22, 1964, in Indianapolis, to the late Dallas Ivan “Toby” Poe and Norma (Rains) Blocher. He was also preceded in death by his adoptive father, John W. Blocher.

John graduated from Indianapolis Baptist Tabernacle School and was employed by the City of Indianapolis Fleet Services as a Supervisor. John was extremely valuable in this position, which oversaw the upkeep of vehicles for the police, fire, and DOT departments. Even after his medical retirement, he would receive phone calls about various things that only John could help with.

He was a member and Past Master of the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. Many memories were created on the back of a motorcycle for John and his beloved wife, Michelle. He enjoyed camping, boating, and riding his Harley. He never turned down an opportunity to vacation in Florida. He will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends. John’s determination and loyalty will always be cherished.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Michelle (McKinnon) Blocher; sisters-in-law, Mary (McKinnon) Craven, Charlene (McKinnon) Berst, and Connie Roark; parents-in-law, Terry and Rebecca Beliles; sister, Kathy (Bob) Parr; a host of nieces and nephews, including Bobby Glenn and (Kelli) Parr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sherry Gardner, Debbie McKinnon, and Jackie Ball.
