Frederick Plunkett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Feb. 16, 2026.
Frederick Lovain Plunkett, a beloved resident of Mooresville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home suddenly on February 14, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on December 16, 1952, in Mooresville, to the late Oscar Lovain Plunkett and Catherine Elizabeth (Felix) Plunkett, Frederick led a life marked by adventure, creativity, and deep care for those around him.

Frederick, or Fred as most knew him, graduated from Monrovia High School with the class of 1971. He was a proud carpenter who dedicated his career to the construction industry. His craftsmanship was celebrated not only for its quality but also for the love he poured into every project. His construction skills were learned from his father at a young age when he and his father built his childhood home. Fred's talent was matched only by his adventurous spirit; he embraced life with a zeal that saw him soaring through the skies in ultralights and hang gliders, exploring the depths of stone quarries while diving, and enjoying nature in all its forms.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheryl Plunkett of Mooresville; son, Kyle Plunkett of Mooresville; sisters, Kathy (husband, Rick) Wells of Brooklyn and Robin Balente of Greencastle; grandchildren, Katy and Finn of the Mooresville area; and three step children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mikhial Eric Lovain Plunkett.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 19th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Fred's Life Celebration Service will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. He will be cremated following the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Fred's memory. Contributions may be made online at https://www.kidney.org/.
