Rodney Stahl Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Feb. 9, 2026.
Rodney Stahl
74, of Mooresville passed away on February 7, 2026 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Rodney was born on February 17, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Tommy and Jewel (Norris) Stahl.

Rodney attended Mooresville High School. He then proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Upon returning home, he worked as a millwright for many years at I.U.P.U.I., before retiring in 2014. He was a member of the V.F.W Post #1111, the American Legion Post #103 and the YY Saddle Club. He will be remembered as a tough, gritty, cowboy; a good man, who was a fierce protector of his family, that had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. Additionally, he loved horses often jumping the neighbor's fence to ride their horses when they weren't home, as well as animals of all kinds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Carol Sue Stahl, as well as his brothers Danny, Mark, and Randy.

Survivors include children, Tommy Stahl, of Indianapolis, Tyneka Sperry (Travis), of Martinsville; grandchildren, Akiah, Jacob, Elijah, Brock, Skye, Bryanna; great grandchildren, Estella Moon, Kolton, Kambrie, as well as partner Cindy Pickett who will all miss him dearly.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Rodney's life on his birthday, Tuesday, February 17th from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with services beginning at 4:00pm in the funeral home. Following the funeral services, family and friends are invited to the V.F.W. Post #1111, 411 S. Indiana Street, Mooresville, IN for a reception in his memory from 4-8pm.
