Don Shover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel - Monrovia on Mar. 19, 2026.
Donald Leonard Shover, 52, of Mooresville, unexpectedly passed away at his residence on the morning of March 13, 2026. Born on February 25, 1974, in Auburn, Indiana, he was the youngest of two chosen sons raised by Richard Shover and the late Judith Ann (Ooley) Shover.

Don grew up in the Monroe- Gregg school district and graduated from Mooresville High School. A skilled carpenter in the construction industry, he was a true craftsman and took great pride in his work, having "built a lot of people's homes" throughout his career.

Known as someone people "naturally liked," Don had a vibrant personality and a wide array of passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and traveling, with the Grand Canyon being a favorite destination. He was a devoted fan of NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts. Music was a cornerstone of his life; he enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, attending concerts, and was a dedicated fan of Metallica. Donald will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his love for a good song, and the easy way he connected with everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Ann Ooley-Shover; his sister, Laura Knox; aunt, Donna Ooley; and beloved niece, Lunden Chappell.

Survivors include his father, Rick Shover of Mooresville; son, Ryan Shover of Denton, TX; siblings, Ron Shover (Jamie) of McKinney, TX and Crystal Parker-Chappell (Jonathan) of Illinois; sister-in-law, Kimberly Lear (Garry) of Mooresville. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, Dan Ooley (Phyllis), Cathy Ooley, Connie Shover (Neil), Anthony Jimenez (Sheree), Pat Gregory, and Thomas Shover; his nieces and nephews, Amber Owens (Tyler), Ethan Knox, Marissa Upton, and Parker Chappell; and a host of cousins and dear friends.

Cremation Arrangements were entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, in Monrovia. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Gathering held from 4 to 7pm, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 7515 N. Kitchen Road, Mooresville.
