John Henry Bockius Jr.

John Henry Bockius, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 17, 2025, after a long battle with COPD. Born on December 17, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, John lived a full and blessed life, marked by love, courage, and a wonderful sense of humor. He departed this world in the comfort of his home in Broomall, PA, surrounded by his family.

John was the beloved husband of Katherine Joanna (Donaldson) Bockius. His legacy of love continues through his devoted daughter, Katherine E. (Thompson) Bockius, and his son, John H. (Rhonda) Bockius III. John's life was further enriched by the joy of his grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Thompson, Haley (Greg) Smith, Sydney Bockius, Julia Bockius, and Michael Thompson, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Bockius, Sr., and Lillian (Brady) Bockius, his sisters Kathleen (Brown) Bockius, Betty (Smith) Bockius, Lillian (Short) Bockius, and his brother, William Bockius.

John was a graduate of Sharon Hill High School, where he discovered his love for football, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He served our country in the Army from 1952-1960 in service to the Korean War. He went on to work at Bell Telephone as a dedicated telecommunication technician until his retirement in 1991. His expertise and work ethic were so respected that he continued to serve as an independent telecommunications contractor for several years thereafter.

John's life was a testament to the values he held dear. He was a pillar of strength and comfort to all who knew him. John's unwavering belief in the promise of eternal life brought him and his loved ones immense peace during his final days.

Above all else, John cherished the time spent with his wife, his children, his grandchildren and his friends. Whether it was playing football in his younger years, fishing alongside his father or enjoying his beloved Eagles and Phillies games, these moments were the ones he treasured most. His love for his family was evident in every action and every word, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to any gathering.

John's life was one of courage and perseverance, always facing challenges head-on with a smile. His sense of humor was a gift that he generously shared, brightening the days of those around him. As C.S. Lewis once said, "Courage, dear heart," and indeed, John's heart was one of the bravest.

John's impact on this world was immeasurable, and his memory will be held in the hearts of those who loved him forever. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith. John Henry Bockius, Jr., will be profoundly missed, but the echoes of his loving and courageous spirit will resonate for eternity.
