John William Boerm III

John "Jack" William Boerm III, 93, of Edwardsville, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Stillwater Senior Living.

He was born on February 3, 1933, in Wellston, MO, to the late John II and Ruth (nee Hamm) Boerm. Jack honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he built a lifelong career as a union laborer in the paving and asphalt industry.

On January 13, 1973, he married Peggy Kreider, who survives. Together they shared many loving years filled with family, laughter, and devotion.

During the 1980's, Jack served many years as an IHSA official for both high school basketball and football. He was a member of Collinsville American Legion Post 365 and took pride in his service and camaraderie with fellow veterans. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. Whether gathered for holidays, celebrations, or simple everyday moments, Jack's greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don Boerm; his sister, Ruth "Sugar" Murtan; and two brothers-in-law, Willard "Sak" Saddler and Tom Murtan.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Boerm; four children, Craig (Janice) Boerm of Collinsville, IL, Jon "Brett" (Erin) Boerm of Maryville, IL, Michelle Wright of Edwardsville, IL, and Lisa Kreider of Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren, Miles Wright, Logan Boerm, Ethan Boerm, Emilee Boerm, Brayden Boerm, and Ella Boerm; his sister, Dorothy Saddler; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Buster.

Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ron Habermehl. Burial with military honors will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
