October 12, 1938 - October 28, 2025

John passed away peacefully at his home in Tracy, California, on October 28, 2025, at the age of 87. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marie; his son, Peter; daughter-in-law, Monique; and cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Stella.

A devout Catholic and loyal public servant, John dedicated 37 years to his career as a CIA analyst, where his integrity, sharp intellect, and remarkable memory earned the respect of all who worked with him. A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame (Class of 1960), he remained a lifelong Fighting Irish fan.

John was a quiet man who remembered every detail about the people he met and cared deeply for those around him. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in family life-always awake and waiting when his grandchildren came to visit, and never turning in for the night until they were tucked safely into bed. He loved Vietnamese culture and his extended Vietnamese family, and he showed his care through everyday acts of devotion-like driving Peter to and from school in Arlington, Virginia, and attending every one of Peter's sporting events despite his demanding job at the Pentagon.

John shared his deep faith through his voice as a longtime member of the St. Bernard's Church choir, where he found joy and community in song. As a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, John embodied the Catholic spirit of service and community, engaging in activities that support veterans and active military personnel.

John will be remembered for his faith,

quiet strength, and unwavering love

for God and family.
