John Booth

JOHN BOOTH - John Ryan Booth, age 78, of Steens, MS, passed away August 20, 2025, at his residence.  Funeral services will be Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pete Bowen officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL, with military honors.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

     Mr. Booth was born July 30, 1947, in Cleveland, MS, to the late Albert and Ethel Ryan Booth, Jr.  He was a graduate of Merigold High School and attended Mississippi State University.  Mr. Booth was a veteran of the United States Navy then served for seven years with Search & Rescue in Key West, FL.  He worked at the Columbus Air Force Base for many years as lead aircraft electrician until his retirement.  Mr. Booth was a Shriner and enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter.  In addition to is parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Michelle Blackston.

     Survivors include his wife, Peggy Stapp Booth of Steens, MS, son Garry Lynn Blackston of Steens, MS, grandchildren, Cody Blackson, Will Bradshaw, Hunter Blackston, and Martha Marie Blackston, and great grandson, Dawson Bradshaw.

     Pallbearers will be Combat Veterans of North Mississippi.  Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Stapp, Ricky Shepherd, Allen Bazelle, and grandsons, Cody Blackson, Will Bradshaw, and Hunter Blackston.
