Jack Borden, 98, long-time Beverly resident and patriot, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Masonic Village, Burlington. Born in Riverside, N.J. on February 19, 1927, he was raised in Burlington, graduating from Burlington High School in June 1944. At 17 Jack immediately enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II as a Combat Aircrewman/Gunner on a PB4Y-2 "Privateer" Patrol Bomber. Discharged in 1946, he attended Parks Air College and Drexel Institute of Technology, graduating with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1952. Jack spent half of his working life at John J. Nesbitt, Inc. (later ITT-Nesbitt) in Philadelphia as a research and development engineer with promotions to Director of Purchases and Materials Manager. In 1972 he founded with his partner, Kenneth Munroe, Purchasing Value Analysts, Inc., a purchasing consulting firm, where he held positions as treasurer, vice-president, and president, until his retirement.

During his career he was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Pi Tau Sigma Honorary Mechanical Engineering Fraternity, the Gas Appliance Engineers Society, of which he was Charter President of the Eastern Chapter in 1960-61.

Jack was a member of the Beverly City Zoning Board of Adjustment for over twenty-five years, serving as secretary and chairman. He held positions in the Beverly-Edgewater Park Kiwanis Club, serving as secretary and president. He was also a Benefactor member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Delaware Valley Friends of NRA, the Delran Junior Marksman and the Ankokas Rifle-Man's Society, in which he served as president and leader of the Junior Rifle Club. Jack was the chairman of the Burlington High School Class of 1944 Reunion Committee, Associate Life Member of the St. Louis Gateway Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, and a member of the 101st Airborne Division Association.

Son of the late John C. Borden and Edna Thickson Borden, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Codding Borden. He is survived by daughter Pamela Borden Heckert and husband Clark, sons John C. Borden III, and R. Douglas Borden and wife Kim. In addition, he leaves behind beloved grandchildren J. Winfield Heckert, Elizabeth C. Heckert, Anneliese Heckert Burch and husband Zach, Peter B. Heckert, Adam D. Borden, John C. Borden IV and wife Thanecha, and four great-grandchildren, Madeline B. Heckert, Audrina M. Borden, Wyatt W. Burch, and Emmett J. Burch.

Service and burial were private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doane Academy, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (Beverly), or the American Cancer Society.
