John Fernholz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Page Funeral Home - Burlington on Sep. 12, 2025.

John E." Jack" Fernholz, of Burlington, passed away peacefully with his beloved daughters by his side on September 9, 2025, at Samaritan at Virtua, Mt. Holly, at the age of 80.

Jack served his country honorably in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He later dedicated over 20 years of service as a Civil Engineer at McGuire Air Force Base, where he retired with distinction.

An avid golfer, Jack spent many hours on the Falcon course at McGuire, where his persistence and passion led him to join the "Hole in One Club." He treasured being able to share that extraordinary moment with his grandson.

A true Philadelphia sports fan, Jack faithfully cheered for the Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers through every season. He enjoyed the excitement of occasional visits to Parx Casino. At home, Jack found comfort in simple pleasures-relaxing with his favorite TV Land classics and surrounding himself with the music he loved. Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, and other timeless artists filled his home with songs that brought him peace, joy, and lasting memories.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He also cherished his weekly visits with his sister, a special tradition that deepened their bond.

Jack was the beloved husband of the late Helen DeFleece Fernholz, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Robin (Michael) Carnivale and Amy (Robert) Kiss; his grandchildren Abigail Carnivale, Jessica Carnivale, Molly Kiss, and Jonathan Kiss; and his siblings Joan (Harry) Lavell, Terry (Donna) Fernholz, Peter Fernholz, Robert Fernholz, and Patricia (James) Layton, along with many dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's RC Church, 223 E. Union Street, Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial of cremated remains at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, whose compassionate care brought comfort and dignity to Jack and his loved ones.

John's legacy of love, loyalty, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
