John S. Boyd, 91, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Greene Meadows Nursing Home Catskill, NY. He was born on January 29, 1933 in Washington, DC, son of the late John S. Boyd, Sr. and Naomi (Bruff) Boyd.
He was a graduate of Penn State University where he received his bachelor’s degree. John later worked for IBM in Kingston, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He retired in 1988. He was an active member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Kingston, where he served as Secretary. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, Cape Cod, and camping.
John is survived by his children, Catherine Boyd of Palmyra, VA, and Chris Boyd and his wife Julie of Kingston, his grandchildren, Brad Boyd and his fiancée Courtney Winne, and Caitlin Boyd, and his nephews, John and Robert Kessler. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Michael Boyd, and his siblings, George Boyd and Mary Kessler.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, NY. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross Santa Cruz Episcopal Church, 30 Pine Grove Ave., Kingston, NY 12401.
