Mr. John William Boyer, 86, of Odenville, Alabama, passed away on August 8, 2025.

John was born in Lothair, part of Hazard, KY. He graduated from Hazard High School and then, followed his older brother, Curt, into the air force. After serving four years, he moved to Atlanta and went to work for Southern Airways, as a passenger load analyst. This is where he met his wife, Nancy.

In 1972, he transferred to Orlando, FL, where they lived with their 3 children, for the next 14 years. In 1986 they moved to AL to be close to family, that were in declining health. John worked at the Birmingham airport until he retired in 2000.

John enjoyed going out for coffee, everyday, with his son Jason and discussing politics. He was a man of faith and his great desire was that his whole family would be saved and join him, some day, in Heaven. His favorite Bible scripture was the 91st Psalms, which he quoted often.

He was a man with a quick wit, even until the end. While in the hospital, he called his nurse, who immediately walked into his room, as he ended the call. He looked at her and said, "What took you so long?"

He loved all kinds of music; especially gospel. He was always listening and singing along. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing with them.

I know one day we will see him again in heaven but until then he will be sorely missed.

Mr. Boyer is preceded in death by his parents, James and Bethel Boyer; brother, Curt Boyer; and sister, Janet Eleanor Boyer Lipshutz.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Boyer; sons, Patrick Jason Boyer and Stephen Kyle Boyer (Celinels); daughter, Adrienne Dyane Boyer; grandchildren, Olivia Dene Boyer, Tristan Lane Boyer, Kara Ashtyn Cordtz, Asher Zade Boyer, Trinity Grace Boyer, Charity Kaylen Boyer, Hadassah Joy Boyer, Stephen Malachi Boyer, and Mark Yasher Boyer; great-grandchildren, Aiden Grae Boyer and Atticus Lochlan Banks; sister, Gaye Harris (John); niece, Beth Harris; and nephew, Wes Harris.

The funeral service will be held at the Usrey Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Friends will gather for visitation at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
