John Braddock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by All County Funeral Home-Del Lago Chapel - Lake Worth on Jan. 2, 2025.
John William Braddock, 98, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024.
Johnny was born July 19, 1926 in Lake Worth, Florida in his grandparents home.
He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean War and served as an Engineman 1st Class. He received an Honorable Discharge September 1953 and continued to serve in the Navy Reserves until May 1962. He shared detailed stories of his Naval adventures.
While in Yokohama, Japan, Johnny met Shoko Amano and they married in 1952. They lived together in West Palm Beach for 51 years until Shoko passed away in November 2003.
After discharging from the Navy, Johnny was employed by Eastern Airlines and retired from Eastern on March 1, 1989.
His family moved to Texas in 1931. Their father was employed by Southwestern Bell as a Construction Line Foreman and they moved often. Johnny and his brother, Howard attended 21 schools and he spoke of their adventures living in small Texas towns.
As a child he was fascinated with the art of penmanship and remained passionate about his achieved skill. Johnny was an avid fisherman, gardener and "foodie". A lover of music with a vast music collection, he noted, "music reflects our thoughts back to us and music is what feelings sound like". He was a ballroom dancer, traveler, avid reader, cigar aficionado and beer enthusiast.
His love for Texas Wildflowers inspired annual trips to Texas for 30+ years, including one he took solo at age 90. He could recite the routes in detail, including every restaurant stop and the foods he savored.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shoko Braddock, mother, Adelaide B. Ryan, father, John Braddock, brother, Howard Braddock and his wife Melba Braddock and his beloved grandparents, Howard A. and Adelaide M. Bradley.
He is survived by his nieces, Debbie Yates, Stephanie Braddock and Suzanne Carnes and nephews, Craig Braddock, Keith Braddock, Randall Braddock, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
He was watched over by Sheryl and Debbie Wilder, daughters of his life long friend Ruth Wilder who passed away in 2020. Neighbors Jerry and Linda Clough cared for him lovingly over the years.
A dry sense of humor, and detailed storyteller, Johnny was astute, brilliant, clever and generous until the moment he sailed away.
An advocate of fairness and diversity, in lieu of flowers, kind deeds toward others would honor Johnny.
