Loving Father & Grandfather
John J. Brauss, 93 of Wabasha, MN, formerly of Union, NJ, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Gundersen – St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, Wabasha, MN.
John Joseph was born April 3, 1930, in Irvington, NJ to Elsie (Keenan) and John Brauss. He graduated high school and attended McAllister School of Mortuary Science, New York, NY. He was a funeral director for over 30 years and was formerly employed at Quinn Funeral Home, New Jersey and retired from McCracken Funeral Home, Union, NJ.
He enjoyed his bowling league in Union, NJ; listening to his favorite music, the big bands of the 1940's and watching his westerns. He loved Disney World and was an annual pass holder for 10 years. John was one of Disney's test riders for the Mission to Mars ride.
He is survived by his sons: John Jr. and Kevin (Diahn); a granddaughter Avery; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia Welshans and sisters: Martha Maciag and Eleanor Brauss.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 11am to 12pm at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. Whippany, NJ, followed by a Prayer Service at 12 pm.
