John Braziel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J. Collins Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Mar. 16, 2026.
Mr. John Randolph "Randy" Braziel, 71, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Shady Pines Residential Care Home of The Chanan Foundation.

Randy was born on November 8, 1954, in Augusta, Georgia, the son of the late William Forrest Braziel and the late Margaret Hobbs Braziel.

Randy was a kind and gentle soul who brought joy to everyone around him. His smile and laughter were truly contagious, when Randy laughed, it was nearly impossible not to laugh along with him. He had a special and expressive way of communicating, whether through a big smile with his eyes squeezed tightly shut or his playful, silly moments with his tongue out.

He was known for his meticulous nature, often carefully wiping away even the smallest speck of lint, dirt, or crumbs. Randy took pride in the little details, including straightening and fixing the collars of his Chanan staff. He deeply valued connection and affection- he loved physical touch and especially cherished being told that he was "a good man."

Randy found joy in simple pleasures: drinking Coca-Cola, winking, and blowing kisses to those around him. He shared a special bond with his one-on-one caregiver, Orlando, whose presence brought him comfort and companionship.

For much of his adult life, The Chanan Foundation was more than a place of care, it was family. Randy was deeply loved by the staff and community there, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

Randy's life was a beautiful reminder of joy in the simple moments, the power of connection, and the impact of a gentle spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
