John Stephen Brinson was born to Walter B. Brinson and Doretha C. Julian Brinson on April 20, 1950 in Beaumont, TX. John graduated from Slidell High School in Slidell, LA in1968 and then entered the United States Navy where he served his country honorably. After a medical discharge, he joined his mother and siblings in Muscatine IA. He met and married Lydie Phillips on November 2, 1973 and through the next several years they welcomed Mike, Jackie and John Jr.

Later years, upon returning to the south, he married Elizabeth Buff Stansell. They resided in Bay St. Louis, MS till her passing. John stayed in that area even after Katrina, and when his health was diminishing, he entered a nursing home in Gulfport. John loved music and life. He treasured his guitar and left it to his best friend from across the hall in the nursing home where they lived. John Brinson passed away quietly Sunday, December 28 2025 in Gulfport, MS at the age of 75.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter B. Brinson, of Hammond, LA and mother, Doretha Brinson Green of Muscatine, IA, sister, Vicki Hewitt of Overland Park, maternal grandparents, Samuel and Lurline Robinette Julian of Beaumont, TX, paternal grandparents, Walter Red Brinson of Mansfield, MS and Annie Brown Brinson from Bude, MS, aunt, Samatha Eckles of Michigan, KS, granddaughter, Brittney Brinson and great granddaughter Pressley Whitaker of IA.

John is survived by his children: Mike (Mistie) Brinson of Mo Valley, IA, Jackie Brinson of Muscatine, IA and John Jr (Amanda) Brinson of Osceola, IA; step daughter: Ashely Stansell Eickhoff (Rick) of Royersford, PA; siblings: James (Pam) Brinson of Slidell, LA, Walter Joe (Cindy) Brinson of Muscatine, IA, Jeff Brinson of Davenport, IA and Aunt Gayle (Clark) Lowry of Longmont, CO; eighteen grand children and ten great grand children; many cousins, nieces and nephews in Texas, Louisiana, Michigan, Colorado, California, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas.

He will be missed but now he is without pain and suffering.
