John J. Broderick, 89, of Thornwood NY, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born November 27, 1934, in Yonkers, NY to George and Margaret (Sullivan) Broderick.
He graduated from Iona University and earned two master's degrees throughout his education.
Prior to finishing his education, John served his country in Korea with courage and honor. He taught in the Yonkers school system for thirty years, and went on to substitute teach at our local high school where he was adored by both staff and students.
"Jack" will be most remembered for his never-ending kindness and honesty, his love and loyalty to his family, and his joy when watching Yankee's baseball.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathleen, his parents, his older sister Margaret Mary Maxwell, and his brother George Broderick.
He is survived by his son John A. Broderick of FL, his son Paul Broderick of Valhalla, NY, his daughter Linda (Broderick) Burns of CT, his granddaughter Kathleen Broderick of CT, and his great-granddaughter Emma Rose Burns of CT. He has 13 nieces and nephews. We are forever grateful to his loving caretaker and companion, K.
We will love and miss him forever. A Catholic Mass to celebrate "Jack's" life will be held in the little chapel at St. John and St. Mary's church on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to any Cancer Society.
