Obituary of John Corey Brown
Dr. John Corey Brown, a long-time Las Vegas resident, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2022 at the age of 78, surrounded by his wife and children. Corey Brown was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 21, 1944 and moved to Las Vegas in 1974 where he started in Emergency Medicine at Sunrise Hospital. From 1974 up until shortly before his death, Corey selflessly served the Las Vegas community, meeting his patients with kindness, compassion, and comfort during their most vulnerable moments. We will remember Corey for his sweet, gentle disposition, his infinite love for his family and friends, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Corey is survived by his wife Monica and children, Hannah and Parker.

A friend Corey's introduced us in 1986 while I still resided in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Las Vegas in 1987, and Corey has been my physician and friend since then. He was very sensitive when it was called for and kindly admonishing when I had some crazy ideas, which was often. Corey was a gifted diagnostician, a rarity these days; and he did not mind coloring outside the lines when patient care came first, which was often in my case. Corey was integral for my recovery from a total and permanent disability which occurred in early 1994, always there and always mindful of my situation. I was to a great extent horizontal from 1994-2006, and Corey's flexibility in supporting a number of pain physical therapy interventions was critical to my partial recovery. We all have so many Corey stories -- I wish he had written a book, but then, that would have violated patient confidentiality. He was always extraordinarily devoted to Monica and Hannah and Parker. He loved them fully to and through the end of his physical life: "One dream beyond earth's breath which cannot last/He sparked soul's search to shed life's fragile past." His spirit will be with his family forever.

Dear Monica, Parker and Hannah,
I was deeply saddened when I´d heard of Corey´s passing. He was a staple in our family for decades. My late husband, John Miner and Corey we´re good friends. I´m so sorry for your loss.

Dear Monica, Hannah, and Parker,
I have known your husband, and dad for decades. He was always a true gentleman who cared very much about his family as well as being an outstanding physician. I´ll always remember his kindness whenever we were together, and how proud he was of both Hannah & Parker. Your dad, and husband, was a great man, may he Rest In Peace.
