John Lee Brown, Jr., 81, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL since 2005, formerly of Fremont, OH, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 in Fort Myers, FL. He was born March 20, 1942 in Jackson, OH to John and Gladys Brown, Sr., now deceased.
John was of the Methodist faith and attended Good Shepard Church in North Fort Myers. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fremont Ohio, where he served on a number of boards and committees. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and went on to pursue a degree in Education. He received his bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University in Kentucky, and Master’s degree from Toledo University. John was an Elementary Principal at various schools in Fremont, Ohio for 31 years. John was a member of Fremont City Council for 14 years. John also had a love for interior and exterior painting. Upon retirement he started his own painting business. In 2005 he continued his painting business in Florida when they retired to Pine Lakes Country Club in North Fort Myers. John was well respected and admired in his Florida community and painted numerous homes, both interior and exterior. Painting and working hard kept him happy. He was a proud member of the Men’s Club Board at Pine Lakes serving as Vice President for many years. John loved being in Florida. Helping others brought him joy and it is evident he was loved by many in the community. Most of all he had a deep love for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kay Brown of North Fort Myers and Fremont, OH; three children, Tresha Lutz (Dale ) of Cincinati, OH, John Brown, III of Brookpark, OH, and Chad Brown (Stacey) of Fremont, OH; six grandchildren, Kayla Boyle (Jack), Abby Caye (Will), Adam & John Lutz, Brett Mierke, Alexa Bischoff (Dylan); three great grandchildren, Quinn & Sienna Boyle, Aliviah Mierke; as well as one great granddaughter arriving early summer.
John was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Brown.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Herman- Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home, Pastor Andrea Thurstin will officiate. Private burial will take place at Farimont Cemetery in Jackson, OH. Memorial Contributions in memory of John Lee Brown, Jr. are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church 204 N Wayne St., Fremont, OH 43420.
