Mr. John W. Brown, 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1953, in Midland, Texas, to S.J. “Cotton” Brown and Minnie (Seilheimer) Brown. In November of 1990, John married the love of his life, Vicki Dovre, and together they shared 35 wonderful years.

A dedicated and well-known member of the community, John’s presence touched many. He was the proud owner of Straight Arrow, where he worked as a welder, mechanic, artist, and inventor. Prior to that, he served with Lockheed for 17 years. Whether at work or at home, John approached every endeavor with determination, creativity, and a willingness to lend a hand.

John was known for his generous spirit and his steady desire to help others succeed. Hard-working by nature, he rarely sat still, always tinkering, building, or sharing his knowledge with anyone who needed it. His humor and self-proclaimed “weirdo” personality brought lightness to life, and those who knew him can smile at memories of his playful Ford jokes, his love of the coast, the pride he had in his son-in-law, and the joy he felt listening to his daughter sing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S.J. and Minnie Brown; sister, Stormy Brown; brother, Shorty Carlton; and brother-in-law, Rick Butler.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Vicki Brown of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Vanessa Emmert and husband, Chris; brother, Kenneth Carlton; father-in-law, Bud Dovre; mother-in-law, June Dovre; sister-in-law, Dee Ann Butler; niece, Charlotte Moorhead; and nephews, Billy Joe Carlton and Jerry Carlton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m., both at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. John’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
