John Edgar Bundy, 76, of 196 Old Neck Road, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, in his home where he was being cared for by family.
Mr. Bundy was born in Perquimans County on January 21, 1949, and was the son of the late John C. and Mildred Louise Ayscue Bundy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Arnold Bundy, and brothers-in-law, Randy Forbes and Jim Garner.
A boat builder, he retired from Regulator Marine in Edenton following 25 years of employment and had owned and operated Bundy Boat Works in Hertford for many years. An outdoorsman, he especially loved fishing. He attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Linda Ward Bundy; his son, Chad Bundy (wife, Kimberly) of Selma; his daughter, Joni Riddick (husband, Jason) of Hertford; three sisters, Mary Irma Forbes, Nancy White (husband, Charlie), and Sally Garner, all of Hertford; two brothers, Carroll Bundy (wife, Carla) of Hertford and Thomas Bundy (wife, Trudy) of Washington; a sister-in-law, Annie Bundy of Harrellsville; six grandchildren, Kristen, Joshua, Eli, and Chloe Bundy and Holly and Lilly Riddick; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Scott; and many members of both the Ayscue and Bundy families.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastors Jeremy Pugh and Ken Spivey. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
