John Paul Burch, age 58, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025. He was surrounded by the
love of his wife and cared for with tender compassion by Hope Hospice & Palliative Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Maurina-
Schilling Funeral Home in Owen, WI. Family and friends are invited to join the Visitation held
from 9:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by
the Owen-Withee Vets Club, Thorp VFW, O-W Legion, and Lublin Post #547. Following the
service a Celebration of life lunch will be held from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Red Daisy Girl (
130 North Central Ave, Owen, WI.
John was born on August 22, 1966 to Gary and Nancy (Earley) Burch in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
John graduated in 1984 from Knox Co Career Center and then earned his Certification in
Telecommunication. John enlisted the US Army in 1986, he was awarded The Good Conduct
Medal for his exemplary behavior while serving. John was honorably discharged in 1994.
He met his wife Lucinda in 2012; they married in 2021 on the concert stage at Rock Rally in
Glen Flora, WI. John was an avid collector of antique tools, and with Lucinda by his side they
would journey to auctions in quest to find new treasures.
John Paul Burch was a true artist, renowned for his exceptional ability to master any craft he
pursued. Whether it was wood carving or drawing, John approached each new endeavor with
enthusiasm and dedication. His musical talents were equally remarkable. John was a gifted
guitarist and vocalist. John, alongside his beloved friend and band mate John Heil, could often be
found jamming for the locals in their band Blue Moon.
John was a man of intelligence, kindness, and humility. He was known as a friend to all, leaving
a lasting impression on everyone he met. His genuine nature and warmth will be deeply missed
by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John is survived by wife, Lucinda; two children: Danielle (Jordan) Burch and Benjamin Burch.
He is further survived by his mother, Nancy and sister; Yvonne (Matthew) Mercer.
John is preceded in death by his father, Gary Burch.
