Steffie was born on May 19, 1932 to Steve and Kathryn Kohen in Illinois. Steffie was united in marriage to Virgil Konwinski on November 2, 1952 in Chicago Steffie and Virgil were married for 53 amazing years before the Lord took him home. They moved to the Withee area in 1960. Between Chicago and Withee they were blessed with four amazing sons, Richard, Kenneth, David, and Joseph. They had a dairy farm north of Withee till the late 1970s. They left farming and then she worked at Weathershield until she retired.
Family was always the most important thing in Steffie's life. Her greatest joy was cooking and baking for the family and friends and whoever needed it whether it was for a friend or a bunch of classmates of one of the grandchildren that showed up for breakfast. She would organize and prepare all the holiday meals for the family and friends at her house. She always wanted to do all of the baking and the cooking. All the family knew it was definitely her kitchen and to stay out of her way. She always had to have ham for thanksgiving and turkey for christmas.
After family, Steffie's greatest joy was polka dances. She would dance with anyone that wanted to be out on the dance floor. In her earlier years on the farm, if there wasn't a polka dance going on, she and Virgil were probably at one of the relative's houses playing cards.
Later on Steffie got involved with the pie stand through Holy Rosary Catholic Church. This was her greatest joy in the church setting. Through this she bakes any pies for every event the church had. She very much enjoyed the cake walk that she would work for the church at their fall festival. In winter she would do the Christmas tree lane at the church. She would gather as many kids and grandkids as she could to go help her decorate her circle's tree.
Steffie's kindness and tenacity made her a selfless person that was always willing to help anyone and everyone. She was a go-getter that loved to do "This and That Here and There" for anyone.
Steffie is carried on in memory through the lives of 2 sons: Dave Konwinski and Joe (Mary) Konwinski, daughter-in-law: Donna Konwinski, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Aaron (Katlin) Konwinski with Shay and Macie, Amber (Michael) Loskot with Wesley, Liz (Oak) Slusser with Lukas and Brandon, Paul Konwinski with Madison, Emeline, and Jade, Robert (Lexi) Konwinski with Kayson on the way.
Steffie is preceded in death by her husband: Virgil, Parents: Kathryn and Steve, sons: Richard and Kenneth (Prince) brothers: Walter, Chester, Steve, Louie sisters: Martha and Ann. With many more family and friends.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the great staff at Turner and St. Croix for their compassionate care. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Fallon from St. Croix hospice for her warm kindhearted care for Steffie.
