John Cain Obituary

John E. Cain, 74, of North Huntingdon, passed away on Aug. 20, 2024, at Forbes Hospital. He was born on June 25, 1950, in Greensburg, a son of the late Paul Richard and Mary Elizabeth Stankowich Cain. John was a 1968 graduate of Franklin High School prior to his service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a metallurgist at the Bechtel Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin. John was a member of St. Agnes Church and also an avid outdoorsman. He always looked forward to hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a talented woodworker and loved to work on new projects. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Cain. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Kistler Cain; one son, John Cain; one daughter, Christine Buhr (Kenny); one sister, Sandra Hood; and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Hank. Friends will be received at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com
