John was born on February 4, 1955 to John Ross Callaway, Sr., and Virginia Doris Davidson Callaway in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Shreveport.
John was a resident of Shreveport and was a self-employed floor man. He loved playing golf, horse racing and watching TV, especially "Two and a Half Men." He loved spending time with his family. He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. No one could make John's eyes sparkle like his grandson, Jackson. He enjoyed Violet's cooking, his favorites being fried chicken and brownies. He loved his mother with all his heart and soul and always provided and took care of her to the very end of her life.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Ross Callaway, Sr. and Virginia Callaway; and his Aunt Mary Alice Smith and his Uncle J.W. Crow. Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife of 44 years, Violet Callaway; daughter, Marilyn Jackson and partner, Randy Hodge; daughter, Joanie Spinks and husband, William Spinks and mother-in-law and friend, Beverly Spinks and grandchild, Jackson Spinks; daughter, Bridget Sanders and wife, Amy Sanders, their daughters, Rachel, Amber and Kayla, and their grandchildren, Luca and Atlas; brother, Jeffrey Alan Callaway; sister, Jennifer Tufer and husband, Tim Tufer and their children, Zachary, Megan and Maxwell; Aunt Minnie Bell Crow; Uncle Roy Davidson and wife, Shirley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members; and John's best friends, Randy Lee, Jim Berry, Don Farris, David Emerson, Jr., Jerry Roberts and Rebecca Edwards.
The family would like to express special thanks to Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to John during his illness. They were exceptional as was his loving wife, Violet, that took care of him until he drew his last breath. He will be forever missed.
