John Camara

John Camara, age 77, after a long illness passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Nursing Home in East Providence, Rhode Island, leaving behind loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy of love of family. He was born in Fall River on September 6, 1948.

John was a 1966 graduate of Somerset High School and enrolled in Bridgewater State College before entering the United States Air Force. After his service, he returned to Somerset to work in manufacturing and retail before moving to San Francisco, where he worked for Bank of America until his retirement in 2005. John returned to the southern New England area that year to be closer to his family.

John will be remembered for his artistic ability, his love of birds and classic cars, and his enthusiasm for anything related to model or real trains.

John was predeceased by his parents, Herculano Camara and Lucinda (Camara) Camara and his sister Lucinda Camara Meehan. He is survived by his brothers, Michael Camara, his wife Diane, their children Stephanie (Smith) Shaffer and her husband John, and Travis Smith, his wife, Jamie and children, Berkley Smith and Peyton Smith all of Texas; and Robert Camara of Bristol and his girlfriend, Dawn Lawrence. John is also survived by his beloved nephew Vincent.

There will be a private cremation, and a Celebration of Life will be held sometime during the summer of 2026.
