John P. Carpenter entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the age of 76. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and resided in Terrytown, Louisiana. He was the loving husband of the late Cheryl Carpenter. Son of the late John I. Carpenter and Josephine A. Carpenter. Loving and devoted Father of Jared Carpenter (wife, Melissa Carpenter), Amy Barry (husband, John Barry), Sarah Comeaux (husband, Edward Comeaux), Samantha Carpenter (wife, Tina Carpenter) and their mother Mitzie Leonard. Loving Grandfather of Rian Carpenter (wife, Summer Carpenter), Hannah Barry, Natalie Barry and Abigail Comeaux. Beloved Great Grandfather of Lucy Anne Carpenter (daughter of Rian and Summer). Brother of Raymond Carpenter (wife, Joy Carpenter), Andrew Carpenter (wife, Linda Carpenter), Richard Carpenter (wife, Denise Carpenter). Uncle of Dina Roland (niece), Dana Carboni (niece), Dona Witt (niece), Matthew Carpenter (nephew), Wendy Carpenter (niece), Beth Bishop (niece), Patrick Carpenter (nephew), and numerous wonderful great nieces and nephews. John found joy in painting, woodworking, and spending time with his family. His faith was central to his life, and he shared his love of the Lord through attending Mass, leading Bible studies, and teaching religious education classes. A devoted and active member of Christ the King Catholic Church, John lived his faith with generosity and purpose. In lieu of flowers, John would like everyone to have Masses said in his memory.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Road, Terrytown, Louisiana on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11AM until 1PM. A Memorial Mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday at 1PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana.
