John Charles Carroll, an adored Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 1st at the age of 79.
John was born on March 20th, 1945. He and his brother Edward Carroll were raised by their mother, Florence Pluymers, in Paterson, New Jersey. In Paterson, he met the love of his life, his "blondie," Eileen O'Leary. They moved to Prospect Park, New Jersey, and raised three children together; fatherhood was where John found his calling. John coached his daughter's softball team and took pride in doing so.
John was stubborn with an Irish Temper but had a gentleness his family members knew well. There was no limit to John's imagination, and he shared his stories with everyone he met. Each was tailored to his audience: a scary story for his little cousins or a magical tale about leprechauns for his grandchildren.
John was a big animal lover and cared for many throughout his life. As a young man, he often fed stray cats in his neighborhood. His best friend was a golden retriever named Jessie, with whom he is now happily reunited. John was the kind of man to take a bug outside instead of stepping on it and he'd speak up in any small creature's defense. That is the kind of man John was and is one of the many reasons he will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his Wife, Eileen; Brother, Ronald O'Leary; Son, Russell Storms; Son, James Storms (Wife, Nicole Storms); Daughter, Eileen Carroll; honorary son, Miguel Bonilla; Grandchildren, CJ, Shant, Skyler, Jada, and Piper; and all of his well-loved and cared-for cats.
Family and Friends are invited to Scanlan's: Where Life is Celebrated 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444, from 6 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, November 7th, to grieve, support, and reminisce.
