John Arnold Chargo, age 85, of Lennon, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. A funeral service will take place on 11:00 AM, Monday, October 2, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with burial to follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday and again from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday.
John was born on January 2, 1938, in Flint the son of the late John and Theresa (Zsigo) Chargo. He graduated from Owosso High School, class of 1956. John and Jean Troop were united in marriage on December 31, 1997, in Florida. He worked at the GM Flint Metal Fab for many years before his retirement in 1998. John was proud of his Hungarian heritage. He was down to earth, casual, caretaker personality, hard worker/provider, and loved his family and his home. John loved to go out for fish on Fridays, listening to polka and country music, traveling in the motor home and going to Frankenmuth for chicken dinner and events. He was meticulous about his vehicles and enjoyed car shows and street rods. His most prized possession was his 1938 Chevy Pick-Up street rod. He was proud of his children and their families.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean M. Chargo; children, Renee (James) Waswick, Rebecca (Christopher) Moore, Rita (Christopher) Osterman, Jeffrey (Michelle) Chargo and Robert (Shawna) Chargo; grandchildren, Miranda (Jeff) Cramer, Kevin (Shanna) Moore, Rachael (Sean) Blakemore, Laura McKay, Gabrielle Waswick, Nicholas (Alexis) Chargo, Corrine Chargo, Caylee Chargo and Jody Waswick; great-grandchildren, Keeley Moore, Falyn McKay, Logan McKay, Easton Blakemore, Everli Blakemore, Alessia Waswick, Callen Waswick, Skylar Cramer and Nickolas Waswick-Robinson; brothers, Albert (Nancy) Chargo and Eugene (Vicki) Chargo; and several nieces and nephews; and his special companion, Pippa.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Chargo and great-grandson, Leland Blakemore. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
