My dear Son, Brother, Dad and Uncle passed away May 9, 2023 at the age of 53 in his home in Holladay, UT.
He was born January 10, 1969 to Don Odell and Connie Fay Christensen in Salt Lake City, UT.
John was a very loved little red head. He suffered with extremely bad Asthma from the time he was 6 months old and throughout his life, but he didn't let it stop him from doing things scuba diving and a sky diving jump in Mesquite. Even running marathons with his best friend Woody.
He was loved in his neighborhood as a child. As new homes were built in neighborhood and people moved in Johnny was their greeter. He would knock on their doors and say "Hi I am Johnny Christensen. I brought you a rock".
In his preteens and early teen he volunteered for the March of Dimes collecting money answering phones on their Telethons and being a companion for a camper at their summer camps. He made many friends doing this.
He loved music and movies and trivia about both. But his real passion was photography. His Aunt Sherry bought him his first camera at a thrift store in Denver on one of his visits. Then came high school and he was asked if he would like to be the year book photographer. That opened the door to his passion.
He loved shooting in black and white like the photographer Ansel Adam's. His Sister took him to a museum to see his work. He loved Hummingbirds and all things that fly. His pictures of wildlife included squirrels that he could hand feed and foxes that got used to seeing him and would almost pose for him. He saw beauty in all types of things. But he could see life on the streets as well. His pictures taught us all much.
He is survived by his Mother, 2 brothers Russell and Jeff. 2 Sisters Brenda and Maria. 2 Sons Preston and Randall.
Preceded in death by his father, Grandparents Grant and Violet Christensen and Lucian and Ada Nelson and Nephew Andrew Christensen.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated later. Watch here or on his Facebook for the announcement.
