John Chrusciel, 75, of Carbondale, PA, died Thursday, November 7, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born is Jessup, PA, he graduated from Jessup High School in 1966 and studied mechanical engineering at Penn State.
He retired from Highland Associates and also worked at Akzo Salt, Ingersoll Rand and Sears.
John was preceded by his wife of 38 years, Barbara McDonald Chrusciel.
John was a big guy with a big heart and a big laugh. The staff at hematology and oncology in Dunmore always knew if John was there and they could hear him coming a mile away. That's who John was. He was generous to a fault, loved his sports cars and motorcycles. He and fiancée, Ann Marie Regan, often spent numerous afternoons riding around on the bike, finding the best ice cream places. He was active in local bowling and golf leagues. But his greatest passion was food. He had a big appetite and could talk for hours on the merits of Andy's Pizza vs. Revello's pizza.
His faithful companion through the years were his adopted dogs, Captain and Lexie. In recent years, he became dog dad to Riley, Ann Marie's dog. Most evenings we would snuggle together on the sofa, sharing snacks and desserts.
John was a special uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Some of his fondest memories were of going on vacation with Katie and Kelly. From shopping trips to historical Williamsburg, they loved being together.
He was loved and treasured by Ann Marie's children and grandkids, Matthew and wife, Nicole, Molly, Ryan and Danny. When they would all go out to dinner John would encourage Danny to order "whatever he wants" and delighted at the spectacle of Danny (age 12) eating his first lobster.
There are so many we want to thank but one of them is John's dear friend, Lana Bossick. She was more than a friend, she cooked and baked and kept his house immaculate. We also thank Linda Gigliotti and the Revolutionary Hospice team for helping John through his final days.
He is survived by his fiancée, Ann Marie Regan, Clarks Summit, brothers in law: Thomas McDonald (wife, Laurie), Joseph McDonald (wife, Stephanie); sisters in law: Betty Ann McDonald and Barabara Smith McDonald; several nieces and nephews and numerous Chrusciel cousins from Jessup.
He is preceded in death by his sisters in law: Margaret McDonald Littman and Sister Anne McDonald, IHM; and brothers in law: Jay, Bobby and Jimmy McDonald.
The funeral was held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Mosley, senior priest. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Thomas McDonald, Robert McDonald, Jerry Potis, Matthew Regan, Ryan Regan and Daniel Regan.
