Adelaide St. Fenton (The Mass will be live streamed and can be viewed below John's obituary here). Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Sunday from 3-8 PM; and at church Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home Sunday at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
John was born on November 26, 1938, in Highland Park, Michigan, to John Joseph, Sr. and Charlotte (Dytkowski) Cislo. He grew up in Detroit and graduated from St. Hedwig Catholic High School in 1956. Not long after, he began what became a lifelong career in the title insurance industry.
On October 29th, 1960, John married his high school sweetheart, Connie Marie (Niezgoda). Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They traveled the world on many cruises and loved visiting their Aruba timeshare, where they created countless memories with family and friends.
In 1978, John and Connie moved their family to Fenton, where they raised their three children and became active members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. John also proudly served in the National Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fenton Council #7418.
After decades in the title insurance industry, John founded Cislo Title Company in 1990. With only a high school education but endless determination, he built the business on integrity, fairness, and respect for both employees and customers. His strong work ethic and leadership became the hallmark of the company, which continues to thrive and recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, a milestone that meant so much to him.
Family was the heart of John’s life. He was a devoted husband, loving father to Cheryl (Matt) Delecki, Jeffrey Cislo, and Gregory (Michelle) Cislo, and dear father-in-law to Jennifer Cislo. He was also the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren — Alex (Taylor) Delecki, Ryan Delecki, Carli (Carlos) Madrid, Elise (Jon) Gillman, Marissa Delecki, Parker (Hannah) Cislo, Drew (Madison) Cislo, Cameron Cislo, Grant (Mikala Hunsinger) Cislo, Benjamin (Amber) Cislo, Sydney (Patrick) Conroy, and John “Dutch” Cislo — and great-grandfather to Ashton and Mia Delecki, Vaida Cislo and Fletcher Cislo; and several nieces and nephews.
In 2005, John suffered a major stroke, but he faced every challenge with remarkable strength, humor, and grace. His resilience inspired everyone who knew him.
John and Connie loved watching their grandchildren play sports and were always their biggest fans. John enjoyed life on the lake and never missed a chance to cheer for his favorite Detroit teams, especially the Tigers, and his favorite college teams, Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlotte Cislo, and his sisters Jeannine Pawlus, Dorothy Nietubicz, Bernadine Grajcek, and Marianne Urdahl.
John will be most remembered for his integrity, generosity, and tireless work ethic. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and hard work that will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know him. John will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
