John E Clendenen passed away on May 11, 2025 in Akron, Ohio, after a year-long battle with cancer. John was born in Akron, and graduated from Ellet High School in 1976. He was a die-hard sports fan, but his heart was always with the Browns, Guardians and Cavs. Even though he was in the throes of cancer treatment this past football season, he managed to win his Fantasy Football League.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Arlene Clendenen, brothers-in-law Bruce Kessler and Gary Collinson, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dogs, Roscoe and Chester.
John is survived by his two sisters, Pamela Collinson and Kathy Kessler, who were always there with him for every appointment, treatment, scan and test this past year; nieces and nephews, Kristen (David) Hester, Jeff (Connie) Collinson and Andy (Kristi) Kessler, Aunt Dovie Schneider, five great-nieces and nephews and numerous first cousins. He is also survived by several wonderful life-long friends from “the neighborhood” and co-workers.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
