John Coby Obituary
Mr. John B. Coby, age 86, of Boaz, Alabama, died on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at UAB.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at two o’clock pm at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Chatman, Sr. Pastor, Bro. David Lackey, and Bro. David Cofield officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Coby will lie-in-state on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until service time at the church. A visitation will be on Tuesday evening, November 5, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Coby was born in Albertville, Alabama on May 15, 1938, to Robert & Gertrude Dobbs Coby. He was a retired pipefitter and postman.
Mr. Coby is survived by his Sons: Chris & Kay Power of Guntersville, Benny & Lori Coby of Boaz and Coby & Madison Cobb of Boaz, Daughter: Robin Coby of Boaz, Grandchildren: Dr. Ashley & David Lackey, Brooke & Brad Ashley, Nichole Harmon, Elizabeth Power, Joseph Power and John Coby, III, Great Grandchildren: Jackson Ashley, Lily Lackey, Logan Lackey, Alexus Ashley, Braxton Raines, Liam Carmack, and Charlee Jane Power, Sisters: Janet Woodham and Jenny Snider both of Albertville and Linda Grindle of Boaz. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Robert & Gertrude Coby, Wife: Joyce Cofield Coby, Brothers: Billy, James, Henry & Harold Coby, Sisters: Eunice Scott, Betty Campbell, Ann Steffens, Rosemary Freeman Wilson, and Gaynell Coby.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jackson Ashley, Logan Lackey, John Coby, Riley Camp, Cason Honea, Joseph Power, Terry Cofield, and Brad Ashley.
The family is accepting flowers or suggests donations to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
