John Colborn

John Michael Colborn, 66, of Winnebago, Il., passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at Generations Health Center in Byron, Il. He was born on February 2, 1959, in Murphysboro, Il. to Robert and Mary Ann Colborn.

John graduated from Winnebago (Il.) High School in 1977. He was a 3-sport athlete who participated in football, basketball, and baseball. Possessing an admirable work ethic, he went on to a career in logistics, primarily as a truck driver and dispatcher.

John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their extra-curricular activities. He was a big fan of all the Chicago professional sports teams and very much enjoyed attending games when possible. A highlight includes sitting front row on the 30-yard line at the 1985 NFC Championship game in Chicago for the Super Bowl Champion Bears. John also enjoyed playing golf and riding his Harley. He was a music lover who enjoyed all genres, especially classic rock and country.

John will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved his family very much and was always interested in the lives of his nieces and nephews. Fiercely loyal to his friends and family, he would drop everything at a moment's notice to help in any way he could. Unselfish and generous, he truly possessed a heart of gold.

John is survived by his daughter Kayla, grandchildren Rylee, Conner, and Keller, brothers Tom (Nancy), Tim (Jana), and Jeff (Carol). He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers William and Joe.
