John Wyatt Collins, 65, of Lincoln County, West Virginia, passed away on September 22, 2025 with his daughters by his side.

He was born on December 29, 1959, to the late Tom Napier and Helen Collins.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in 2023, and by his siblings Michael Collins, Ronald Collins, Karen Maynard, and Phillip Collins.

He is survived by his daughters, Crystal (Mike) Collins and Kimberly (Nick) Blair; his beloved grandchildren, Kyler and Kerrigan Blair; his siblings David Collins, Gail (Rob) Adkins, and Tommy (Lora) Napier; as well as sister-in-law Susan Johnston Collins and brother-in-law Joey Maynard.

John was a man with a giving heart, often to the point of leaving little for himself. He wasn't perfect-sometimes more rebel than saint-but those who knew him never doubted his love. He never ended a phone call to his grandchildren or daughters without saying, "I love you."

On September 11, 2025, with Pastor Jason Adkins by his side, John asked Jesus into his heart. There is great comfort in knowing that his final resting place will be in Heaven.

He had many passions and pastimes. He loved politics, westerns, The Andy Griffith Show, the news, and the weather. He enjoyed Dr Pepper, cold milk, beans and cornbread, Little Debbie cakes, and Marlboro Reds. He collected coins and knives, treasures he proudly passed down to his grandchildren. He also carried a love for his land, taking pride in the dirt he was raised on. He dreamed of making it into something beautiful, even if those dreams remained unfinished.

Though he struggled in many ways, one of the greatest joys of his life was becoming "Poppy." His grandchildren brought him happiness unlike anything else, and they will carry his memory forward.

The family extends a special thank you to his friend, Joe McCoy, whose steadfast care and kindness in John's final days were a profound blessing.

Private family services will be held to honor his life.

Arrangements are under the care of Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV.
