John Lawrence “Larry” Corprew of Hertford, NC passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Mr. Corprew was born on November 18, 1942 to the late Lawrence Curtis Corprew and Edith Inez Harris Corprew. He was a life-long resident of Perquimans County. In addition to his parents, Mr. Corprew was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Annette Pierce Corprew whom he loved and cherished deeply. Also by his brother, Billy Dean Corprew and his wife, Judy Corprew Copeland. He is survived by his son, Wayne Corprew (Anna); grandchildren, Anthony Corprew and Eileen Corprew (John); great granddaughter, Hazel; brother, Robert “Bobby” Corprew (Rita); sister, Patricia Markham (Everett); brother-in-law, James “Bud” Pierce (Susan); and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Corprew worked as a Civilian Aircraft Mechanic for the United States Coast Guard Base, Elizabeth City, NC for 42 years. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and a member of the choir for many years. Mr. Corprew was devoted to his wife and family, and gave selflessly of his time and love. He loved fishing, camping and enjoyed working in his yard.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Laura Early officiating. A private burial will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 775 Chapanoke Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
