John Crosswhite Obituary

John Crosswhite, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on November 24, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on December 24, 1951, in Atchison, Kansas, he was the son of Leigh Crosswhite and Alice Gallardo (Johnson). A graduate of Atchison High School, John furthered his education by earning a bachelor’s degree in criminology.

John dedicated his life to serving his community through a distinguished career in law enforcement beginning with the Atchison Police Department, serving honorably for ten years, before transitioning to a role as a correction officer at the Lansing Prison. He ultimately retired as a Lieutenant, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, integrity, and respect within the correctional facility he so proudly served.

John was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Atchison, where he served as a Deacon, and he was actively involved in the local Masonic Lodge, where he had the honor of serving as a two-time past Grand Master.

John enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was known to have a good time at the casino and liked watching sports, especially the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. Most importantly, John treasured the time he spent with family, hosting BBQs and gatherings that brought everyone together.

He cherished moments spent with his family and will be remembered by his wife, Trudy, whom he married on July 12, 1997, at the First Presbyterian Church in Atchison. John is also survived by four daughters: Jaclyn "Jackie" Crosswhite (Kenny), Rachel Crosswhite, Amanda Everhart (Jeff), and Shuntell Brillouet (Ray); a brother, Roger Crosswhite, two sisters, Carol Pozzolungo and Mary Spilman; his ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, who all filled his life with joy and happiness.

John was preceded in death by his parents; two beloved sons, Andrew “Andy” Michael Crosswhite and Anthony “Tony” Scott Crosswhite; and his brother, Ronald Clarence Crosswhite.

A Masonic Service will be at 6:00 PM on December 3, 2025, with visitation to follow from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Rachel Dannar presiding. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
