John Leroy Culliton

John Leroy Culliton, age 83 passed away peacefully with his loving family at his
side on June 12, 2023 in St. Augustine, Florida where he and his wife, the former
Joyce Plouff have resided since 2009. John was born September 15, 1939 to
Thomas and Fern (Brockway) Culliton in Ensign, Michigan. He graduated with the
class of 1957 from Gladstone. John joined the Army National Guard and retired
after 30 years of service where one of his favorite assignments was being a
recruiter which was a duty he excelled at. He and Joyce entered into their
marriage of 62 years at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock on November 12, 1960.
Together they raised two children, John and Jody. John and Joyce enjoyed
traveling and gathering with family. He will be remembered as a generous person
always willing to help anyone in need.
John is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, his son John (Cathy) Culliton, Escanaba,
daughter Jody (David) Allen, St Augustine. Granddaughter Tiffany (Brad) Germain,
Grandsons Josh (Katie) Culliton, Jake (Anna) Culliton and Brandon (Jessica) Allen,
10 Great grandchildren Eli, Faith, Zion, Raphael, Levi and new born Ivan John,
Margie Culliton, John Paul, Joseph and Rosa Allen. Big Papa will be greatly missed
by his young troop of admirers. Also surviving are Brother-in Law Jim (Shurlee)
Plouff and sister- in law Jill Plouff.
John was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Bethel (Mike) Gibbons,
brothers Ronald, James and Thomas, brothers in law Terry, Clinton and Lloyd
Plouff, Father in law Eugene Plouff, Leigha Plouff and Viola Plouff.
The funeral Mass for John will be held at St Ambrose Church, St. Augustine at
11:am on June 20, 2023 with burial in the St. Ambrose Cemetery. There will be a
memorial mass for John at the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock in July.
