CMSgt John William Culpepper II, 87, passed away peacefully September 30, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Harvey Andrus Culpepper and Mabel Parker Culpepper. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers Jackson, Harvey Jr, Vernon and Milton Culpepper; sisters Lula Thomas and Merle Taylor.
Culpepper graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School. He proudly served in the United States Air force for 28 years. He was incredibly proud and honored to have earned the title of Chief Master Sergeant. Culpepper passionately loved his country. He was a decorated skeet shooter earning many titles and accolades including two Georgia State Championships, the Air Force five man team, and inductions to the Georgia Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame and the Armed Forces Skeet Association Hall of Fame. Culpepper faithfully served as manager for the Forest City Gun Club for many years and received the prestigious lifetime membership of the club. His exceptionally quick shooting matched his even faster wit and sense of humor. Culpepper loved to pass on his expertise, experience and knowledge of skeet shooting to anyone who needed or wanted his help. He never met a stranger and was deeply respected and loved by all he met.
Culpepper is survived by his loving and loyal life partner of 34 years Robin D. Logsdon; son John William Culpepper III (MaryLou); daughter Deanna Culpepper Stevens (Mike); bonus daughters Laurie L. Bernstein (Mike), Allison L. LeBlanc (Shawn) and Katie Logsdon; grandson John William Culpepper IV; bonus grandchildren Jason Stevens (Angela), Alex Sharp, Sammie Sharp, Eli Sharp, Lilah Sharp, CJ LeBlanc, Kenleigh LeBlanc and Amelia Joyner; bonus great grandchild Aria Stevens; brother Dennis W. Culpepper (Brenda); sisters Sheila C. Burnett, Jeanette Culpepper and Amie C. Hunt.
Culpepper left a lasting impact on this world and will be so deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at Forest City Gun Club 9203 Ferguson Ave, Savannah, GA 31406 on Saturday October 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers a donation made to the Cancer Society or Hospice of Savannah in the name of John William Culpepper II would be appreciated.
