Obituary of John L. Curran
With a heavy heart we announce the passing of John L. Curran a lifetime resident of the area, who passed away on May 29, 2025 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 66 years old.
The son of the late Betty Ann and Milton L. Curran, he was born on June 16, 1958 in Port Jervis. NY.
For many years, John served as a shipping supervisor at Gillinder Brothers Glass in Port Jervis. He faced a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma which would lead to his early retirement - a disease he fought with unwavering courage, embodying resilience throughout his valiant battle.
John discovered a second calling as a Set Designer at Delaware Valley Middle School under the guidance of James Burnett, where his creativity enriched the lives of students and colleagues alike. He also found great fulfillment in his part-time role at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, working alongside George Knight and Bob Auchmoody. The meaningful work and camaraderie he shared with them brought him satisfaction in his life, a time he never forgot.
Above all, John's heart belonged to his beloved wife, Jeanette. Theirs was a rare and enduring love-a partnership built on profound mutual respect, admiration, and an abiding friendship. Those who knew them could see it plainly: John cherished Jeanette, and his greatest joy was making her happy. Together, they shared a passion for rescuing Golden Retrievers, offering countless goldens a second chance at love and comfort.
John's legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit-and the love he gave so freely-will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Beloved and dedicated husband of Jeanette Curran. Devoted doggie daddy to Georgia & Parker. Cherished extended family Jennifer, Nancy & Ed DiGiantommaso and family, Dennis, Eileen & Matt Dilger, Aimee Dilger & sons, Erik Dilger & family, Gerry Parise & Dave Ericson, Pat Dunning, Elaine Schuster, Maureen & Angel Hughes, Andrea Berger-Gildea, Dan & Lilllian, Jean Marie Porter & family, Kelly Healy Brozak & family, Jenny Eisenhower & family, Christine Baraschi, Wanda & Al Holtzer, Marian & Mel Durrwachter, Patty Ossont, sons & family, Linda & Chris Neidig, Kathy & Ed Mowatt, Duncan Brown, Karen Wiebolt, Donna & Roger, Kathy Maida, Mitchell Kolvenbach, Ed & Kelly Sanders, Billy Mills and Marsha & Cheryl.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00PM at the Knight - Auchmoody Funeral Home. Following on Wednesday visitation will continue from 11:00 to 11:30AM. A funeral service will commence 11:30AM at the Funeral Home, Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial to immediately follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.

I came to Delaware Valley Schools knowing no one. Jeanette and John opened their hearts and their home, made me feel welcome and we became friends. It was hard to not see the bond that you had with each other. John stood by my side as I married Sally. You hearts and home were opened to our new family. I will never forget the times that we spent together. John was a great mentor, friend and husband. He will be missed, but forever in our hearts.
