John D'Onofrio, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love of his family.
John was the beloved husband of Maryann D'Onofrio, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring marriage since September 9, 1972. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering partnership.
He was a dedicated and caring father to Andrea Allen (Gregory) and John Philip Donofrio (Amy). Nothing brought John more joy than his family, and he took immense pride in being a constant source of love and support in their lives. He was a cherished grandfather to Luke and Olivia Allen, and Roman, Iyla, and Gianna Donofrio, who filled his heart with happiness and were the light of his life. He also lovingly held in his heart his granddaughter Angeliyah, the late daughter of John Philip and Amy, whose memory remains as a meaningful part of their family.
Born in
Brooklyn, New York, John and Maryann later made their home on Long Island for over 45 years. More recently they settled in Arizona, where he and Maryann built a beautiful life, surrounding themselves not only with family, but with new and deeply meaningful friendships.
John dedicated over 30 years of his career to Con Edison, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. In addition to his work there, he also built and operated his own successful office cleaning business, reflecting his drive and commitment to providing for his family.
John had a deep love for classic cars-and really, all cars. He could often be found talking about them or admiring one wherever he went. He also enjoyed spending time at the gym and, above all, loved coming home to enjoy Maryann's cooking. He was known for his humor and playful spirit, always quick with a joke or a smile. Silly, kind, and incredibly dependable, John was the kind of man people could always count on. His generosity knew no bounds, and he gave freely of himself to those he loved.
He was predeceased by his parents, Felice and Stella D'Onofrio, and his sister, Nancy, all of whom remained close in his heart throughout his life.
John will be remembered as an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His love for his family was unmatched, and the joy they brought him defined his life. His legacy of love, laughter, strength, and generosity will live on in all who knew and loved him.
