John D'Amato, a beloved husband, father, and friend, left his earthly home on June 29, 2025. Born on February 20, 1954, in Birkirkara, Malta, John's life was a journey that led him to Austin, Texas, where he spent his final years. His life was a testament to the words of John Lennon, "Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears."
John was a man of strength and compassion, qualities that made him a beacon for those around him. He was a steadfast partner to his wife, Jody D'Amato, to whom he was married for many cherished years. Beyond being a devoted husband, John was also a loving son to his father, Charlie D'Amato, and his late mother, Annie D'Amato. John's love and commitment to his family was a constant, unwavering force that defined his character. John leaves behind his sisters Mary, Carmen, Elizabeth, Susan, Eileen, Sandra and their spouse, and children, extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, and his two
Stepchildren Alexandria, and Anthony and their spouse and children.
In his professional life, John was a dedicated worker who retired after many years of committed service. His work ethic and determination were a true testament to his character. In retirement, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, demonstrating the truth of Albert Einstein's words: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." To John, every moment was a miracle to be savored and cherished.
John's life was a tapestry of love, joy, and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind. We invite those who knew and loved John to share their memories and photographs on his memorial page, as a tribute to a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
